Juvenile Gorilla (#7872)

I took this picture in 2024 at the Washington National Zoo. The younger Gorilla was very playful and playing with this scarf. The Adult Gorilla was not amused and seemed to be telling the kids to "knock it off".

Butterfly - Buckeye (#7191)

Junonia coenia, known as the common buckeye or buckeye, is a butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. I love how the purple edges and even in the centers of the "eyes" of the Buckeye match with the purple of the flowers!

Wild Horse from Carova, NC (#6160)

The Wild Horses of Carova, NC in the Outer Banks, NC are an incredible sight to see. They are descendants of Spanish mustangs brought by Spanish colonizers in the 16th century.

Giant Panda (#7850)

Giant Pandas are on exhibit at the Washington National Zoo. They are on display in their newly renovated habitat on Asia Trail. They were very playful during my visit.

Wolf - Lakota Wolf Preserve (#855)

In October 2025, I visited the Lakota Wolf Preserve where we met 4 wolf packs. Each wolf had its own special coloring and personality. Also wild, these wolves are in large enclosures where portals allowed photography. I had to resist any urges to pet these magnificent creatures.

American Alligator (#5976)

In November 2025, I visited Cajun Encounters on a swamp tour in Slidell, LA. Fantastic visit with Alligators, Raccoons, Limpkin and Great Blue Heron birds, wild Pigs and Snail eggs!

Raccoon (#5828)

This Raccoon picure was taken in Slidell, LA while on a Swamp Tour. The critter was given a vitamin treat by the tour guide. While still very wild, the Raccoons were eager for treats.
